Valley Center’s win was a total team effort in a game that went back and forth throughout the night. Both teams were tied at 12 after the first quarter, and Valley Center held a slim two-point lead at halftime. In the third quarter, Andale surged ahead and entered the final period with a five-point advantage.
The Indians seemed to pull away late in the fourth, taking a 57-50 lead, but the Hornets refused to quit. Valley Center responded with an 8-0 run, capped by a clutch play in the final minute. RayJ Logan drove past his defender and found Colby Newton on the wing for a game-changing three-pointer, putting the Hornets up 58-57.
The Hornets forced 25 turnovers on the night and got key stops down the stretch, including a late steal by Bryson Saner, to seal the victory.
