Hornet powerlifters competed in the 2025 5A State Powerlifting Meet at Basehor-Linwood over the weekend.
Roman Gage placed 3rd overall in the Men’s Heavy Weight Division with a three-lift total of 1,115 lbs. He was 3rd in squat with a personal record 540 lbs. lift, 4th in clean with a personal best 305 lbs. lift, and 6th in bench press with a 305 lbs. lift.
Ashton Wedel was 7th overall in the Men’s 156 lbs. Division with a three-lift total of 770 lbs., a 40 lbs. improvement from competition a month ago. He finished 6th in squat with a personal best 345 lbs. lift, and 8th in both clean and bench press. His 220 lbs. clean was a new personal best, and his 205 lbs. bench press tied his previous best.
Blake Johnson competed in the Men’s 173 lbs. Division, squatting a new personal best 265 lbs, and tying his previous best bench press with a 190 lbs. lift
Jakob Bryant competed in the Men’s 220 lbs. Division where he set a personal best of 350 lbs in the squat.
Freshman Kinsley Johnston competed in powerlifting for the first time, finishing 8th in class in bench with a 115 lbs. lift, and 6th in class in clean with 130 lbs lift.
