The Hornets kicked off their final week of regular season play by traveling to Hutchinson to take on the Salthawks and Maize South. The team started slowly in their first match against Hutchinson but began playing cleaner toward the end, enabling them to claim victory in two sets: 25-19, 25-17. Highlights from the match included Ava Jacquez’s 2.30 serve-receive rating and the outstanding hitting performances of Anna Duncan, Taylor McDonald, and Teagan Canady, who had a combined 24 kills and a .584 hitting percentage. The team then played Maize South, where they were scrappy and aggressive throughout the match but dug holes early, eventually losing the match in two sets: 20-25, 21-25.

The Varsity Volleyball Team then traveled to Campus, where they faced Campus and Andover. In their game against Campus, the Hornets had a rough first set due to multiple errors and poor defensive positioning. However, these issues improved in the next two sets, and their strong serve receive and swings led to a three-set victory for the team: 19-25, 25-17, 25-21. The team then took on Andover, winning the first set but dropping the next two, resulting in a match loss: 26-24, 15-25, 18-25. The Hornets shut down Andover in the first set due to exceptional blocking (9 total) and defense but struggled to recreate that magic throughout the rest of the match.

The following weekend at Sub-state, the Hornets played their first match against a strong Hays team, securing victory in two sets: 25-23, 25-20. The team demonstrated exceptional passing with a 2.32 serve-receive rating, served aggressively, and swung strategically, enabling them to advance to the Sub-state championship match. They then faced a tough Great Bend team, struggling to find their groove both defensively and in serve receive; however, the team managed to gain some consistency and energy, leading to a more competitive second set. Despite these challenges, they swung exceptionally well, led by junior Taylor McDonald, who had an outstanding offensive performance with 13 kills and a .500 hitting percentage in the match. Although the Hornets led for most of the second set, they made multiple errors and poor decisions in the final stretch, leading to their eventual two-set loss: 21-25, 23-25.

The Hornets finished the season with a 21-13 record, achieving one of their three goals of having 20+ wins. Their second goal was to be one of the top two teams in the league, which they accomplished by going 8-4 against league opponents and earning a second place finish. Despite failing to achieve their third and final goal of winning Sub-state, both Coach Unrau and Coach Dantzson are extremely proud of the team and the time they've put in this year, their dedication and hard work, and all that they've accomplished throughout the season. Go Hornets!
