VALLEY CENTER — The Valley Center Middle School girls’ tennis team had several players advancing to the final rounds and earning individual honors. The team, which placed 5th overall, is already looking ahead to next season with optimism thanks to a strong roster of returning players.
One of the standout performances of the tournament came from Kaylee Hunter, who advanced all the way to the championship round playing #3 singles. Hunter's perseverance and skill on the court throughout the meet was helpful as she navigated through a tough bracket to secure her spot in the final round.
In doubles, the pairing of Josslyn Lewis and Elizabeth Swenson delivered an exceptional performance in the #4 doubles category, finishing in second place. Their teamwork on the court was evident as they battled their way through a competitive field to earn a podium spot.
Ashlyn Stancer, who competed in the highly competitive #1 singles bracket, demonstrated significant improvement over the course of the season. She narrowly missed out on a third-place finish in what was one of the closest matches of the day, but her growth as a player was a bright spot for the team.
Overall, the Valley Center girls’ team showed great promise and resilience, with strong contributions from multiple players. The team placed 5th overall in the league, but their optimism is high as they look forward to next season. With a deep bench of returning 7th graders, the future looks bright for Valley Center tennis
