Valley Center Middle School’s tennis team faced fierce competition at the Maize South Invitational this past Tuesday, with nine girls participating and the team tying for 6th place overall in a highly competitive field. Despite the depth of talent across all teams, Valley Center players showed resilience and skill throughout the tournament.
The standout performance of the day came from the No. 3 doubles team, consisting of Kaylee Hunter and Lily Fortine. The duo battled their way to an impressive 4th-place finish after a battle with the 3rd place team, making them the top performers for Valley Center. Their achievement stood out in a field stacked with strong doubles teams, reflecting their hard work on the court.
The invitational featured some of the toughest competition the team has faced this season, providing valuable experience as they prepare for future matches.
Valley Center’s next challenge will be on Thursday when they face Derby North in a dual match. The team is eager to build on their success and continue improving as they progress through the season.
