On Tuesday, September 10th, Valley Center Middle School delivered an outstanding performance in their tennis dual against Salina South Middle School, with victories in 9 singles matches and 3 doubles matches. The team’s depth, particularly with the addition of talented seventh graders, played a significant role in their success.
One of the key highlights of the dual was the rise of Jayleen Cabrol, who has worked her way up to the #3 singles position. Cabrol, paired with teammate Morgan Fowler for the #2 doubles, showcasing their determination by winning a tense tie-breaker match. Her growth as a player continues to be a critical asset to the team.
Another impressive seventh-grade newcomer, Kaylee Hunter, turned heads with her solid play. Hunter’s singles match demonstrated her potential, and she formed a strong partnership with Casey Groves in doubles, further contributing to the team’s victory.
Leading the team from the #1 singles spot, Ashlynn Stancer continues to show steady improvement each competition. Despite a hard-fought loss in her singles match, Stancer's growth since her seventh-grade season is evident, and her perseverance on the court remains a valuable part of the team's dynamic.
