Hornets fall in 1st round of sub state

The Hornets faced number one ranked and unbeaten Maize South on Tuesday in the first round of sub state. Maize South started the game shooting well from the 3 point line, hitting their first 4 attempts. At the end of the 1st quarter the Hornets were trailing 25-11. The Hornets defense did a better job in the second quarter limiting the Mavericks to only 10 points. The Hornets would close the first half on 6-0 run to be down 35-22. To start the second half the hornets would go on another 6-0 run to cut the lead to 7 points. However, Maize South would go on a run of their own to extend the lead again and eventually win the game 83-60. The Hornets were led in scoring by Austin Saner with 17 points. Colby Newton, Evan Chavez and Ray J Logan would provide a spark for the Hornets each hitting three 3 pointers each to finish with 11 points a piece.

The Hornets want to thank Seniors, Hank Welu and Nico Azcorra, for their contributions to the basketball program on and off the court. They will truly be missed.
