The Hornets lost a close one to Ark City on Friday night. The Hornets jumped out to an early lead in the 1st quarter. Ark City would battle back to tie it up at 26-26 going into halftime. The second half would be a battle with each team trading baskets. The score was tied 50-50 with 4 minutes to play. Unfortunately, the Hornets could not close out the game. A few costly fouls and 3 point plays would allow Ark City to pull away in the closing minutes. Valley Center would fight back to get it within 3 points at the end, but failed to tie the game at the buzzer.

Austin Saner led the Hornets in scoring with 17 points. Doc Needham added 13 points and Hank Welu had 13 points. Colby Newton and Evan Chavez chipped in 8 and 6 points respectively. Bryson was the leader on boards with 8 rebounds. The Hornets will travel to Eisenhower on Tuesday, before returning home on Friday to face Salina Central.
