Valley Center Girls Basketball had a good week with wins over two league opponents. Their record is now 11-5 on the season and 6-3 in league play.
The girls hosted Goddard on Tuesday, defeating the Lions 35-20. The Hornet defense was strong, getting 11 steals and holding Goddard to 24% shooting. The offense managed to convert many of those turnovers into points to earn the victory. The Hornets were led by Morgan Thatcher with 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals. Avery Davison added 7 points, 4 assists and 5 rebounds.
On Friday, the girls traveled to Ark City to take on the Bulldogs. After a slow start, the Hornet offense erupted for 20 points in the 2nd quarter to take a 26-16 advantage into halftime. Ark City continued to battle but couldn't get it closer than 7 points. Valley Center was led by Morgan Thatcher with 14 points and 4 assists. Avery Davison shot 4-6 from the 3-point line to add 12 points. She also contributed 2 assists and 2 steals. Taylor McDonald had 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.
The Hornets travel to Goddard Eisenhower on Tuesday.
