The Hornets lost a close one to Goddard on Tuesday night. After some hot shooting in the first half by Goddard the Hornets found themselves down by 5 at halftime. To start the 2nd half the Hornets continued to pressure Goddard which led to some transition points and did a better job of contesting Goddard's shot attempts and securing the rebound. The score was tied up going into the final quarter of play after a great defensive 3rd quarter by the Hornets holding Goddard to 10 points for the quarter. The Hornets would take the lead late,53-49, with 3 minutes to play. However, Goddard would close the game with a run to win 65-59. The Hornets were led in scoring by Austin Saner and Hank Welu with 15 points a piece. Bryson Saner had 11 points. Doc Needham and Evan Chavez each chipped in 7 points. Bryson Saner was the leader on the boards with 7 total rebounds to go along with his 3 steals. The Hornets will travel to Ark City this Friday and then to Eisenhower next Tuesday. The final home game (senior night) will be next Friday against Salina Central.
