Hornets Compete in 2024 Goddard Powerlifting Classic

Hornet Powerlifters competed in the 2024 Goddard Powerlifting Classic on Saturday, January 27th, 2024.

Senior Trey Heitsman finished 3rd overall in the Men's Power Division. Heitsman placed 1st in class in clean (285 lbs), 2nd in bench press (315 lbs) and 4th in squat (460 lbs). Junior Damian Young and sophomore Roman Gage joined Heitsman in the top 10 of the Men's Power Division. Young placed 6th in class with a 5th place finish in bench press (285 lbs), 6th in clean (245 lbs) and 8th in squat (405 lbs). Gage finished 8th place in class, with top 10 finishes in clean (4th, 250 lbs) and squat (6th, 415 lbs).

Two Hornets finished in the top 10 in the Men's 181 lbs Division. Walker Vanderweide (junior) finished 4th in class with top 10 finishes in clean (2nd, 295 lbs) and bench press (3rd, 245 lbs). Brayton Palmer (senior) finished 7th in class with top 10 lifts in clean (4th, 265 lbs) and bench press (5th, 240 lbs).

Senior Josy Robles finished 5th place overall in the Women's 148 lbs division. She was 3rd in class in squat (250 lbs), 4th in bench press (130 lbs) and 7th in clean (120 lbs).

Two other Hornet lifter's finished 6th place overall in their respective weight divisions. Dallas Johnston (junior) competed in the Men's 132 lbs Division where he placed 5th in bench press (190 lbs), 6th in squat (250 lbs) and 6th in clean (185 lbs). Jeff Stockwell (junior) competed in the Men's 220 lbs Division where he placed 5th in bench press (275 lbs) and 7th in squat (405 lbs).

Sophomore Jack Lampe placed 1st in bench press in the Men's 172 lbs Division with a 300 lbs lift.

Ethan Dillman, Miles Massaglia, Ian Poole, Jordan Wade and Harrison West also performed admirably in the meet.

The Goddard Powerlifting Classic is a virtual meet, allowing participants to lift in their school weight rooms. Coaches judge their own athletes' lifts and report results to officials at the host school.
