The Hornet girls traveled to Haven to face the host team Haven Wildcats on Thursday night in the opening round of the Wildcat Classic. The Hornets offense, which has struggled to score at times this season, got off to a fast start because of their defense. The girls forced 10 turnovers in the 1st quarter to create easy scoring opportunities to open up an early lead. The girls maintained their momentum in the 2nd to take a 26-10 lead into half.

Despite some foul trouble, Valley Center was able to maintain their defensive pressure in the 2nd half. The offense rode that momentum to put up their highest scoring total of the season, closing out with a 48-30 win. The girls were led by Morgan Thatcher with 15 points & 4 assists. Anna Duncan added 14 points, 5 rebounds, & 2 steals. Avery Davis contributed 9 points and 5 assists. The Hornet defense was led by Reese Bieker with 4 steals and 3 deflections.

Valley Center takes on the Cheney Cardinals in the semi-final game at 7:30 on Friday night.
