Salina Central started strong and jumped out to an early 15-4 lead midway through the first quarter. The Hornets made a run of their own to eventually take the lead late in the 2nd quarter before giving up a 3 at the end of the 1st half as Salina Central took a 30-29 lead into halftime.
Salina Central would extend the lead to 45-38 going into the final quarter of play. During the final quarter the Hornets went on a run to tie it up 49-49. Unfortunately, the Hornets would eventually fall 54-52. The Hornets were led in scoring by Colby Newton with 15 points. Hank Welu and Austin Saner each chipped in 11 points each. The Hornets will play Newton next on Wednesday night at home as part of the January Jam tournamnet.
