Valley Center Girls started the new year quickly, getting out to a 17-3 lead after the 1st quarter. Not only were shots falling, but the defense was really tough, not allowing Ark City to make a field goal until the last 2 minutes of the half. The girls took a 20 point lead into the half.
In the 2nd half, the offense cooled off a little bit, but the defense continued to make it tough on Ark City. Although the Bulldogs fought hard, the Hornets held on to earn the 41-22 win. Valley Center was led by Morgan Thatcher with 12 points. Taylor McDonald added 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals. Avery Davison also had 4 steals and led the team with 7 assists.
