8A vs Lakewood 12/9
The Valley Center Hornets defeated the Salina Lakewood Mustangs, 33-9, in the semifinals of the Suburban League tournament. The Hornets started fast with great defensive pressure to lead 8-2 at the end of the 1st quarter. Valley Center’s defense continued to create offensive opportunities with multiple steals in the 2nd quarter. By halftime, the Hornets led 21-6, behind Raegan McDonald’s 10 first-half points. McDonald ended with a game-high 12 points. The Hornets shut-out the Mustangs in the 3rd quarter to lead, 31-5. Others scoring for the Hornets: Avery Williams 8, Rachel Garten 8, Mallory Ferguson 2, Makayla L’Ecuyer 2, Julia Ensey 1.

The 8th grade girls will play Andover Central on Monday at 6:30pm at VCMS.

7A played their best game of the season v #3 Goddard in the league tournament, but came up short and lost 20-27. The girls pushed to play at a pace and an intensity that allowed us to be competitive. Turnovers and foul trouble were our two biggest issues today, with more than half of Eisenhower's points being scored from the line. Jerzie Shultz and Morgan Fowler led the team with 9 each, and Tylee Coleman and Kinsley Johnston each added 1. Coach Melissa Fehrenbach said, “These girls gave everything they had today, and I hope they are proud of the progress they've made this season, both individually and as a team.”
