The Valley Center Girls Basketball Team earned their 2nd win of the week, beating the visiting Andale Indians 43-33 on Friday night.

The 1st quarter ended in a 10-10 tie, despite the Hornets leading for a majority of the period. Andale picked up their defensive pressure to hold Valley Center to 2 points in the 2nd quarter. The Indians took a 7 point lead into the break.

The Hornets came out strong in the 2nd half. Reese Bieker ignited the offense, completing a strong drive with a tough basket despite being fouled. She converted the free throw. Morgan Thatcher followed it up with two big 3 point baskets to give Valley Center the lead, which they would not relinquish. Andale made a run in the 4th, cutting the lead to 1 with 3 minutes to go behind two big 3 point baskets, but Anna Duncan answered with a 3 pointer of her own to put the girls up by 4. Valley Center's defense clamped down the final 2:30 while the offense made their FT's to secure the 10 point victory.

The Hornets were led by Thatcher with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Duncan added 11 points & 6 rebounds. Avery Davison contributed 5 assists. Valley Center is 2-0 going into their matchup next Tuesday with Goddard Eisenhower. The game will be played at Valley Center High School at 6:00.
