The Valley Center JV boys opened their season at home against Liberal on Tuesday. The Hornets ramped up the pressure early, jumping out to a 22-10 lead after 1 and a 47-16 halftime advantage. Valley continued playing well after the break, winning every quarter by double digits and closing out the game strong, notching a 92-37 win. The scoring was balanced for the Hornets, with 5 players in double figures. Preston Looney led the scoring with 19, with Ray J Logan and Evan Chavez both following with 13. The Hornets defense was stellar, as they forced 37 turnovers in the game, Preston Looney and Nash Jamolod had 7 steals apiece to pace the defensive effort.
