The Valley Center Hornet Wrestling Team competed at home Friday night against some of the best competition in the State of Kansas with 5 of the 9 competing teams ranked in the top 5 of their respected classifications. In a razor thin team race that came down to the final round, #1 ranked Rose Hill edged out everyone to capture the team title. Valley Center came in 2nd place behind Rose Hill with 2 champions. Braxton Moody at 113lbs and Dai'Mont Mucker at 215lbs both went 5-0 on the day with 5 pins each. This is an extraordinary feat considering the tough competition. Other top performances included Cooper Boone, Beau Young and Jett Schwartz. These three ended the day 4-1 with 2nd place finishes. Derek Truman, Steel Schomaker and Aiden Shields finished the day with solid 3rd place finishes. The Hornets had 14 varsity wrestlers and 4 unattached wresters compete and get quality matches.
