Valley Center Middle School Hornets Triumph Over Hutchinson Salthawks: Final Score 35-20
Valley Center came out strong, claiming an early lead with a score of 6-0. The Hornets' defense was impenetrable, keeping Hutchinson at bay and preventing them from scoring. By halftime, the Hornets were in control with a 15-6 lead. Valley Center had established their dominance, both offensively and defensively, showing off their incredible skills and teamwork. One of the standout statistics of the game was the Hornets' remarkable rebounding performance. Valley Center managed to out-rebound Hutchinson by an astonishing 51 to 22. Their tenacity and determination on the boards played a pivotal role in securing the win. Raegan McDonald had 14 rebounds and Avery Williams grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Hornets. The Hornets' defense was equally impressive, forcing Hutchinson into making 28 turnovers throughout the game. These turnovers allowed Valley Center to capitalize on fast-break opportunities and extend their lead. Avery Williams led the way on the defensive end with 8 steals and one charge taken. The scoring for the Hornets was a collective effort, showcasing the team's balanced offensive strategy. Leading the charge was Rachel Garten with 9 points. Raegan McDonald and Avery Williams each contributed 8 points. Mallory Ferguson and Makayla L'Ecuyer chipped in with 4 points each, and Julia Ensey added 2 points to the scoreboard.

The Valley Center Middle School 8th Grade girl's basketball team won Thursday night vs Hutchinson 28-11. The girls were really nervous to start the game which contributed to the slow start as the girls were just missing. However, the team went on a 10-0 run to start the second half to push the game out of reach. As the team, the Hornets allowed 0 offensive rebounds. The leading scorers for the game were: Katrina Dixon 10, Emily Reffner 6, Gracie Sharon 4, Miley Dalrymple 4, Lauren Woolsoncroft 2, Adrienne Meith-Overton 2.

7A
The VMCS 7A team lost to a tough Hutch team 6-50. Offensively, we struggled to take care of the ball. Defensively, we were scrappy and aggressive, especially in the half court. Kenzie Truman scored 2, and Jerzie Shultz had 4. Despite the score, this team played with tenacity and heart to the final buzzer.

With Brihli Sims leading the way on defense and both teams playing a tough, physical game, this matchup highlighted the physical toughness of the Hornets. Brihli Sims proved to be a force to be reckoned with on the defensive end of the court. With her scrappy play and tough pursuit of the ball, she disrupted the opposing team's offense which resulted in multiple turnovers for Hutchinson. Bri Kessler was just as scrappy on the offensive end with rebounds and physical toughness. Both teams displayed a tenacious and physical style of play, leaving everything on the court. During the second half, Hutchinson mounted a comeback attempt, narrowing the score to 2 and putting pressure on the girls' team. However, they showed resilience, refusing to let their lead slip away. After a hard-fought battle, the game concluded with a final score of 24-19 in favor of the Hornets.
