Varsity Volleyball Shows Up for Sub-State

The Varsity Volleyball team competed in the Sub-State tournament at Maize South on Saturday, where they beat Topeka West in the first round and fell to Maize South in the second round. The Hornets finished their season with a record of 23-11.

The scores for the day are as follows:
Valley Center vs. Topeka West: 25-21, 25-23
Valley Center vs. Maize South: 14-25, 19-25

Head coach, Kaitlin Unrau, and assistant coach, Janeigh Dantzson, were both extremely proud of the way their girls competed. They felt like their team really "showed up" and implemented a lot of the things that were worked on throughout the week at practice, including a new defense. Coach Unrau would like to give credit to both Topeka West and Maize South for their hard fought matches. Additionally, she would like to commend Maize South for their exceptional volleyball skills and talent, stating that they "were a really good team".

Coach Dantzson stated that she feels "lucky to have gotten the chance to coach such a talented and fun group of girls!" It's always sad to see a season end, but the team is appreciative of all the support that they had from friends and family, the bonds they made with one another through team dinners, pumpkin painting, the Fall Fest parade, and more, and finally the success that they had together through meeting their serving and passing goals for the season, obtaining a winning record, and their 3rd place league finish!
