Following their 3-1 performance at the El Dorado Tournament, the Hornets played their last regular season games on October 10th where the team went 2-0 on the night and senior Avery Looney broke the school record for most career aces, totaling 118 (and counting). The team's record after these matches stood at 22-10. The scores are as follows:

El Dorado Tournament:
Valley Center vs. El Dorado: 25-7, 25-19 (W)
Valley Center vs. Buhler: 25-15, 25-17 (W)
Valley Center vs. Ark City: 25-19, 29-27 (W)
Valley Center vs. Chanute: 23-25, 25-18, 18-25 (L)

Ark City Tri:
Valley Center vs. Ark City: 28-26, 25-19 (W)
Valley Center vs. Eisenhower: 25-16, 25-23 (W)

At El Dorado the Hornets had a dominant pool play performance, where they went 3-0 and didn't drop a set. The Hornets were disappointed by their bracket play loss to Chanute, where they lost in 3 sets due to their inconsistent play and energy. The highlight of the day was the team's aggressive serving, averaging a 2.46 serve rating and accumulating 18 total aces over the first 3 matches! The stat leaders of the day include Malia Smith and Natalie Webb's 5 aces, Teagan Canady's 2.20 serve receive rating, Taylor McDonald's 31 kills and .429 hitting percentage, Anna Duncan's 8 blocks, Avery Looney's 43 assists, and Malia Smith's 39 digs.

At the Ark City Tri the team took care of business in both matches, due to their aggressive swinging, serving, and defense. The stat leaders of the night include Taylor McDonald's 2.23 serve rating and 5 aces, Ava Jacquez's 2.30 serve receive rating, Anna Duncan and Taylor McDonald's 11 kills, Kailee Abasolo's .429 hitting percentage, Taylor McDonald's 5 blocks, Avery Looney's 22 assists, and Malia Smith's 26 digs.

At Ark City Avery Looney broke the school's career aces record, which previously stood at 116, and achieved a new record of 118 (with sub-state still remaining). Avery Looney has played on the varsity team as one of its two setters since her sophomore year and has also reached the milestone of securing 1,000+ career assists this season. We are super proud of Avery and her commitment to volleyball, her teammates, and our program. Thanks for everything Ave!

Although the team was hoping to repeat their 5-0 performance and 1st place finish from the El Dorado tournament last year, the team is very happy with their 5-1 finish to the regular season.

Sub-state article to come.
