We are pushing into the last few weeks of Valley Center Volleyball Season this fall of 2023. Last week, September 12th the JV volleyball team went up against two new opponents and pulled out a split record for the night against the Ark City Bulldogs and the Andover Trojans. Valley took Ark City with a solid win; 25-18, 25-19. Andover was a tough battle with a tempo set to challenge our defense. We took this loss with scores of 12-25 and 18-25. Sophie Simmons (10) lead in blocks for the night with Elena Alvarez (9) coming in for a close second.

Our second home game of the season was a tough showing, but gave our JV girls a stronger mindset to pushing through tough plays. Playing another new team to the season games was us against Salina Central. We took them to 3 sets for a hard loss of 15-25 (L), 25-18 (W), 13-15 (L).

Andover Central was our final game of the night at Valley Center High and was another tough loss for our JV team. Alyson Sparman (10) and Sophie Simmons (10) really helped us stay in the fight with their aggressive kills and ball placement. Sparman averaged a .500 against Salina Central and a .143 against the Jaguars. Simmons also had a .500 vs the Mustangs and had a solid percentage of .333 against Andover Central. Our DS's also fought in the back row to keep us going as much as possible with a 2.23 overall pass % from Avery Davison (10) and a 1.8 overall pass % from DS Scarlett Harrison (10). Caris Claussen (9) had 1.78 average asst score in setting for both games as well.

Our next games will take place, again, at home in Valley Center against Cheney and Goddard at 5pm and 7pm.
