MCDONALD POWERLIFTING STATE CHAMPION, OTHER HORNETS FINISH TOP 10

McDonald Powerlifting State Champion, other Hornets Finish Top 10

Valley Center senior Jack McDonald had a DAY at the 2023 5A State Powerlifting Meet! McDonald won gold in the squat (470 lbs) and clean (325 lbs) competing in the 198 lbs Men’s Division. He placed 4th in bench press (305 lbs). He finished 1st overall in division.

Fellow senior Caleb Saner landed top 10 finishes in all lifts. Saner was 5th in squat (420 lbs), 6th in bench press (275 lbs) and 7th in clean (265 lbs) competing in the 181 lbs Men’s Division. He finished 6th overall in division.

Freshmen Beau Young finished 9th place overall in the Heavyweight Men’s Division. He was 7th in clean (265 lbs) and 9th in squat (435 lbs).

A pair of juniors earned top 10 finishes in the 172 lbs Men’s Division. Brayton Palmer finished 5th in clean (265 lbs) and Colt Williams finished 10th overall in division.

Freshmen Jack Lampe won 2nd place in bench press (225 lbs) in the 148 lbs Men’s Division.

Other Hornets competing in the meet included Roman Gage, Alex Gardea, Miles Massagila, Holden Morris, Jeffrey Stockwell, Walker Vanderweide and Damien Young.
