The VCVB - JV and Varsity squad finished their league season games back down south the Campus High this past Thursday which was the second date of the JV's busy week to finish off their 2025 season.

We played against the Colts again in three tough sets for a battle to the finish line. With a rough start getting our serve receive to come back together and working on not letting bad balls drop, we too the win against the Colts. Though our passing struggled, our hitters were rising stars this game with multiple of our JV athletes getting over a .200 hitting percentage goal (in volleyball terms, hitting a .200 or greater is very good, especially for the JV level) with our leaders this game being Rachel Garten (10th) and Kenna Holmes (9th) tying for first with a .429 hitting % and Mackenzie Bahl (9th) coming second with a .286, and lastly Daisy Schomaker (10th) coming in third with a .235 but leading with the most attempts of 17. Our serve receive was a struggle this match, but two of our athletes were very close to our team goal for SR and that went to Adalynn Menefee (9th) with a 1.61 and Daisy Schomaker (10th) with a 1.6.

After taking the win against the Colts, we played for the first time this season the Andover Trojans which was an enjoyable team to play to continue working on pushing ourselves against more fast-paced competition. Unfortunately we took the loss against the Trojans but we worked hard to keep our heads leveled and stick to their competitive pace. Adalynn Menefee truly continues to earn her Libero jersey with passing well past our JV set SR goal of 1.7 by passing a 1.93 this match and Daisy Schomaker coming in second with a 1.67. Rachel Garten took the lead for hitting % this match with some very aggressive swings and smart tips for kills to average a .250 against the Trojans. She also had two straight-to-the-floor blocks and 5 over attempt blocks that still put the Trojans out of system. Jocelyn Robles (11th) and Taelyn Holmes (9th) tied for second in hitting average this match with both hitting a .200.

As their coach, I look forward to seeing them compete and look even more forward to watching them compete against some of our tougher competition at the JV league tournament on Saturday, October 18th, 2025.

We will be competing against McPherson, Maize South and Salina South out of the bracket tomorrow morning. Be on the lookout for news from those matches!
