The 7th grade Hornets pulled off an exciting 32-28 victory in a hard-fought battle, with Dominic Alvarez leading the charge on offense. Alvarez lit up the field with multiple big plays, consistently breaking through the defense to keep the chains moving. Special teams also played a huge role, with Carter Stephan making key plays in the return game and helping shift field position in the Hornets’ favor throughout the contest.
In the second matchup of the night, the 8th grade Hornets fell to a tough opponent, 38-14. Despite the final score, the team showed signs of a comeback in the second half, creating a few scoring chances that just fell short. Wide receiver Brock Kelp stood out with a monster performance, breaking several tackles and racking up big yardage. His powerful running gave the team momentum after halftime. On the defensive side, Brantley Andrews put in a solid performance, helping to slow down the opponent’s rushing attack with smart positioning and strong tackling.
While the 8th grade team couldn't pull out the win, both teams showed toughness and resilience. Hornets will travel to Derby North next week to take on the Falcons.
