Our VCVB Hornets have spent the last two Tuesdays at home facing very competitive opponents during league games on 9/23 and 9/30.

September 23rd, the Hornets competed against Salina South for the first time this season and took the win in two sets. Our JV girls competed very well against the Cougars and were finding the spots needed to execute our two set win. Team goals were met during this game with a 1.99 SR average and meeting >86% on serving average.
We then went on to compete against Maize who we saw two weeks prior at Campus. It was a tough battle with both sets being 20-25 for the loss in two sets but so much was learned about our team from this game. We were reading better and playing more scrappy against the Eagles.

Last night, September 30th, we finished out our month at home again for Senior night against Hutchinson and Derby. It was also our first debut against the Salthawks and we took the win in two sets with the second set being a hard fought battle to 29-27. The girls looked very solid and had good composure against their serves and deep swings and our wings were picking up tipped balls well. We faced Derby for the first official time of league play tonight but our second compete against them with a 3-set loss. We beat them the first set 25-22 and were reading their swings well along with Rachel Garten (10th) leading in blocks and attempts against their tough swings. Unfortunately, we put ourselves in a rut the second set by letting them get a 0-7 run on us but fought hard to just keep our composure. Our third set was still competitive with serves and trying to hit their holes but was a lost battle that evening.

Going 1-1 again this week and beginning preparations for our home - VC Invitational - this Saturday 10/4 we are hoping to keep pushing for a positive record by the end of the season.
