5A State Powerlifting: 8 Hornets Finish Top 10 in Class

Eight of the fifteen Hornets competing in the 5A State Powerlifting Meet finished top 10 overall in their respective classes.

Beau Young earned state champion honors in the Men’s Heavyweight Division, with a three lift total of 1,150 lbs. Beau was 2nd in bench (315 lbs) and clean (325 lbs), 3rd in squat (510 lbs). Joining Beau in the top 10 of the Men’s Heavyweight Division were Trey Heitsman (4th place) and Damian Young (7th place). Heitsman finished 4th in bench (305 lbs) and clean (295 lbs), and 6th in squat (450 lbs). Damian finished 6th in bench (300 lbs), 7th in squat (435 lbs) and 12th in clean (230 lbs).

A pair of Hornets finished top 10 overall in the Men’s 181 lbs Division. Walker Vanderweide finished 6th overall, 8th in bench press (265 lbs), 13th in squat (365 lbs), and 2nd in clean (305 lbs). Brayton Palmer finished 7th overall, 7th in bench press (265 lbs), 14th in squat (360 lbs), 7th in clean (270 lbs).

Dallas Johnston finished 4th overall in the Men’s 132 lbs Division, 2nd in bench (200 lbs), 9th in squat (245 lbs), and 2nd in clean (200 lbs). Roman Gage finished 8th overall in the Men’s 242 lbs Division, 10th in bench (250 lbs), 11th in squat (405 lbs), and 9th in clean (245 lbs). Jack Lampe finished 9th overall in the Men’s 173 lbs Division, 1st in bench (305 lbs), 17th in squat (340 lbs), and 13th in clean (215 lbs).

Ethan Dillman, Korey Govern, Miles Massagila, Ian Poole, Jeff Stockwell, Jordan Wade, and Harrison West also did a superb job representing the Hornets at the meet.
